Scorpion Exo-930 Evo: A Budget-Friendly Modular Helmet
Modular helmets are a great option for both city riding and long-distance touring. With a modular helmet, you essentially have two helmets in one, especially if it is dual-homologated, meaning it is certified safe in both open and closed configurations. There are many modular helmets available on the market, and Scorpion has recently released a new one that is sure to appeal to entry-level riders on a budget.
The new Scorpion Exo-930 Evo offers all the features you would expect from a premium modular helmet at a fraction of the price. Starting at £150.70, or about $192 USD for plain colors, and £164.06 ($209 USD) for the Sikon graphic, it provides excellent value for money. One of its standout features is its dual-homologation, indicated by its P/J marking, which means it is certified safe with the chinbar in both the open and closed positions. Additionally, the Exo-930 Evo meets the latest ECE 22.06 safety standard.
Scorpion places a strong emphasis on both safety and rider comfort. The Kwikfit cheek pads are designed for maximum comfort, with a pre-cut channel that allows for easy use of eyewear while providing support and comfort on longer rides. The inner liner of the Exo-930 Evo features Kwikwick II and III, with Kwikwick III being softer and more supple. It is made of hypo-allergenic fabric with moisture-wicking properties, ensuring comfort and freshness during extended use.
Like most modular helmets, the Scorpion Exo-930 Evo is equipped with a dual-visor setup. The clear visor on the outside comes with a Pinlock 70 Maxvision film to maintain clear vision in any weather conditions. The interior visor utilizes Scorpion's Speedview technology, offering convenience in all weather conditions. Additionally, the inner visor has an EverClear coating to prevent fog buildup in cold and humid weather.
On the tech side, the Scorpion Exo-930 Evo is compatible with Scorpion's proprietary Exo-Com system. However, it appears that the helmet's design also allows for compatibility with other intercom systems. It features a standard polycarbonate shell and a quick-release micrometric buckle for easy use. As with all Scorpion helmets, it comes with a standard five-year warranty.
